'Tai Chi Inspirations' was the
first solo film project by Martial Arts and Yoga Instructor, Art
Director and Production Designer John Scot Petty. He utilised all
his previous experiences on and off camera, including his skills as
a multimedia Artist, and begun a process of bringing his ideas to
Film. {Please see VAS Originals on this site for his Art work
Portfolio}. 'Tai Chi Inspiration' volumes are now available to
purchase at the VAS Shop. Other instructional films in this
Instructional series still to be released include 'Seated Tai
Chi' - A exercise program for practicing in a chair. A program
for these with limited mobility and office workers, 'Ba Tuan Jin'
the Eight Pieces of Brocade Chi Kung set, and the series 'Tai
Ji Fundamentals' and 'Chi Kung Fundamentals'. As a study
in basic editing and as an instructional aid John originally
produced a beautiful animation of a Tai Chi sequence - 'Yang
Cheng Fu Style Tai Chi' before filming. {Also available at
the VAS Shop} All these films include sound tracks composed and
preformed by John. 'Tai Chi Inspirations' is both beautiful
to watch and contains instruction in a three tiered format of
'Image', 'Music' and 'Voice'. This is inspired by the fact that
'Learning' such an art is a complex endeavour that relies on many
different factors and influences. John has also included Chinese
script and translation of the written works on Tai Chi
into the film. The films original footage was shot on a limited
budget in analogue then later transferred into digital format for
editing. Shot on locations around England {including an Oriental
Garden built by John} and its Islands, John sees this as a
'working sketch' that will develop over the years and successive
productions.
John and his
associates are available for similar film projects. See 'VAS Shop
& Hire' and 'Associates' pages. |
